How did you and your groom meet?
We met at a Happy Hour one Friday night at Blue Martini in Phoenix, AZ.We are dying to know, how did he propose?!
It was a regular Sunday, which began with us going to church and then to one of our favorite breakfast spots in Gilbert called “Over Easy.” After breakfast I was beginning to suspect that there may be a proposal was coming as Jeremy was being especially complimentary that day. 🙂 Jeremy said he wanted to take a walk after the meal. He took me to a private boat dock which sits on the same lake a few houses down for my parents’ home, where I grew up. We sat down and Jeremy continued to be very sweet, expressing just how much he cared for me. He then took four cards out of his pocket from one of our favorite games, “Cards Against Humanity”. When I say those cards, the idea of a possible proposal quickly faded from my mind, haha. For those of you who don’t know the game, one person has a card about a certain subject and another person plays a different card to describe the subject card (this usually results in quite humorous pairings). The first card Jeremy gave me read “Things that boyfriends give their girlfriends”. The second card read “A shiny rock that proves I love you”. At this point, Jeremy was sitting halfway on the dock bench. He then handed me a third card that read, “Will you marry me?” Once I had read it and looked up, Jeremy was kneeling on one knee with the most beautiful ring I had ever seen!!! He continued to say more wonderful, nice things (that I can’t quite recall as I was in shock). He then said “I don’t know if you’ll be needing this” as he handed me the fourth card. It said, “Yes.” We then went over to my parents’ house next to celebrate the news (my parents of course already knew). The afternoon that followed was spent with lots of phone calls and texts sharing the news and a celebration at North (the location of our first official date)!
Purple and Silver, it was formal and traditional.
How large was your wedding party?
We had 4 bridesmaids and 4 groomsmen (one of them including a Best Man and a MOH) and also one ring bearer.
I found my dress at Wedding Belles Bridal Boutique in Gilbert and this process was pretty easy for me!
Where did your ceremony and reception take place? Was there any special meaning behind the choice of venue(s)?
We choose the Ashley Castle (Or also known as The Castle at Ashley Manor) in Chandler for both our ceremony and reception.
What kind of flowers did you have in your bouquet and the ceremony/ reception?
White roses, lisianthus and painted purple roses.
We had a four tier cake with alternating vanilla and chocolate flavors.
Did you provide favors to your guests? If so, what were they?
We did! We had a photo holder magnet with a poem inside thanking our guest for coming and they placed their photo inside that they took at the photo booth! We loved this idea because it tied into the photo booth.
What details from your wedding that made it unique to you?
While our ceremony was short and very unique, there were many really personal aspects that gave more insight to our guests about us as a couple. We wrote our own vows, our pastor gave a small segment about how we met and how Jeremy proposed, we took communion, and had a unity sand ceremony. Many guests came up to us afterward and said they loved it!
Seeing my husband’s face as I walked down the aisle and our fist dance.
Did you take a honeymoon? If so, where did you go?
We took a nine day trip to Jamaica!
What is one piece of wisdom you learned from your planning experience that you would like to share with future brides?
I am very type A (LOL) and I just wanted to check everything off and sit back and relax! But my advice is don’t rush the process. It is best to make decisions a little bit at a time. I felt at times the more I tried to make several decisions at once, the more pressure it created and it left me more with more of a challenge on what I wanted. For example I ended up changing our first dance song three weeks before the wedding! I was so glad I did but the song just came to me one day, instead of trying so hard to think of one in the midst all the other tasks!
