This week’s question (and our inaugural one) comes from Stacey K. in Chandler. Stacey asks:
What is the truth about a bride wearing more makeup than normal on her wedding day?
Stacey, and all brides-to-be, this is a great question! We know that you have concerns about feeling and looking overly made-up for your wedding but there are a few factors we need to consider – the length of your day and photography/videography.
First, we all get up in the morning, go through our AM routine and head out to work. I don’t know about you but my makeup looks wilted by noon (earlier if its 115 degrees in the blazing AZ sun – your makeup literally melts off your face, right?) and it never looks fresh when I get home after work. Your wedding day is going to be as long as your work day, and that’s just the ceremony and reception portion! Your makeup may look a little heavy to you but it will get you through your first look to your last dance.
Second, any photographer/videographer will tell you to make sure your features are a little exaggerated so that you don’t look washed out on camera. You can’t repeat this day and we want to be sure that it is perfect. As always, we take our cues from you so should you feel that your look is too heavy, we will talk with you about alternatives to ensure you feel natural and beautiful as you walk down the aisle.
Back in September we teamed up with the talented Mandy from Mi Amore Photography to do a styled wedding photoshoot at Aldea at Tlaquepaque. We have anxiously been waiting to receive the pictures and we are now so thrilled to be sharing them! The concept for the photoshoot was that perfect mix of classic, holiday fun with a slight edge. The details fell into place perfectly, from the grooms sharp tux and red velvet bow tie to the brides tattoo sleeve and crimson red lips to the dramatic floral pieces amongst the romantic twinkle lights, this shoot felt like a festive, intimate wonderland! Trust us you’re going to want to pop a bottle of bubbly and put on your favorite tunes and soak in all this beauty!
Shoutout to our stylist Renee for pulling off this classic edgy bride look!
Also, be sure to bookBabydoll Weddings for any of your upcoming weddings or holiday parties!
Also thank you to all the amazing vendors that made the photoshoot come together!
As wedding stylist we really don’t step out to anything other than behind the scenes, but in all honesty those behind the scene moment are so crucial. It’s really important that the bride and her wedding party look their best. We recently had such a great time doing Daniella’s wedding at the Windmill Winery. Our stylist Amanda, Rachel, Sam, Alyssa, and Kedisha we’re total rockstars! Click more to see how the look came all together.
Here at Babydoll Weddings the work and play never stop! Among the busy wedding season we were invited to participate in a gown shoot for Arizona Weddings’ newest issue (on news stands). It was a treat to be able to work some of the best wedding professionals in the industry as well as being able to have fun with them at the drop party a few weeks later. We are so excited to feature some of our favorites from that shoot and being able to show off the marvelous work of our artists and of those of all the vendors that were a part of the team.
With inspiration taken from the Spanish Colonial mixed with soft pinks and greens and a touch of some classic elements made this styled shoot a joy to be a part of. If you are a bride with more of a classic taste but still wanting a touch of bright colors or is wanting more of subtle details than you will be in love with everything about this shoot! We have come to the final bride in the Babydoll Weddings Winter/Spring Bridal Portrait Series. Today we are featuring the beautiful Toni, and her two different, yet stunning, bridal looks. Babydoll Weddings Lead Stylist Micky did the hair & makeup for Toni and we just love the contrasting styles seen here.
Micky describes a bit about her time with Toni: Toni’s first look: Toni wanted a little volume to her hair, so I decided to add a bump to the top portion of her hair while still showing off her hair length with some big curls. We wanted to show off the detailing in her dress so we kept her hair off of her shoulders as much as possible. Keeping her makeup more natural we used a variation of pinks and light browns and as for her lips I used a glossy medium pink.
Toni’s second look: This dress has so much to say just on its own that we wanted Toni to make her own statement too. We did a darker smoky eye with red lips to pull some of the attention to her! We had some great fun with her hair! We incorporated a couple of braids and lots fun intricate details.
