Don’t sweat it, dolls! As the temperatures begin to climb in AZ (can you say 96 degrees in mid-March #dolls?), we turned to our stylists for some simple tips to keep you fresh and dry on your big day, and the days leading up to and long after you walk down the aisle. All you need is some baby or talcum powder, a large makeup brush, and a little help. Simply brush a light coat of powder over your chest, back, underarms and any other area that may need attention (under the bust line or around your thighs). Don’t be afraid to ask your maids for help reaching your back. We all know they will do anything for you! Now you are ready to dance the night away with your handsome husband.
It may feel like a little too far away to plan your makeup looks for the holiday season but with Thanksgiving next week, it is actually the perfect time! Some of the trends that we have seen on the runway have been dark dark lipstick, dark nails and our personally favorite; glitter! For those who are a little nervous about wearing glitter makeup every day; Christmas and or New Years Eve would be the perfect time to try the new look out.
Applying glitter makeup and making sure it stays all night can be a little tricky. Fortunately one of our stylists’ Sabrina has some great tricks and tips of the trade. First spray your brush that you are using to apply the glitter with setting spray; this will give the glitter something to hold on to; otherwise the glitter will get lost in the brush. Next, prep the eye with either a non-toxic glitter glue (Too-Faced makes a great non-toxic glue) or a super adhesive cream stick. Then apply the as much glitter as desired. After the adhesive has dried, tip your head upside down and run over each eye lightly with a fan brush. This will help sweep the excess away. I know I’m excited to try this new look this holiday season!
When applying makeup every morning, I and many women out there just want a flawless complexion and foundation that will last from day to night. Alas, everything I have tried has failed until now. One of our stylists Micky has this fantastic trick to solve all of my problems. She told me to spray my foundation brush or beauty blender (whichever you prefer to use) with a setting spray before applying my foundation. By doing this it will ensure even blending (yay) and a long lasting flawless complexion (double yay)! She said that even spraying your eyeshadow brushes before application will also ensure your eyeshadow has been blended perfectly and that it will last from day to night! Thank you once again Micky for making our mornings easier!
As a future bride, you deserve to have everything perfect and go exactly how you want it to go! Our stylist, Amanda, has a great suggestion to help relieve future brides when it comes to their hair and makeup. Having a makeup trial is a great way to make sure you get your makeup the exact way you want it for your wedding. Amanda also suggests, after your trial spend some time in different types of light such as late morning, afternoon and evening. Take pictures of your makeup in the different lighting and you’ll be able to see how your wedding makeup will look throughout your wedding night!
Brushes are important in your makeup routine so don’t forget to wash them! Once every week get them wet, swish them in some baby shampoo, rinse, squeeze out excess water, then lay them on a table with the hairs hanging over the edge so that they dry back into the right shape. Leaving them overnight will usually give them enough time to dry so you can use them the next morning.
