Emmy and Trevor were recently married on March 5th of this year. Their wedding was filled with special touches meaningful to the both of them and their venue The Paseo offered gorgeous desert views. Read more below!
How did you and your groom meet?
EHarmony! We both knew right away that the other person was different than the rest. 🙂
We are dying to know, how did he propose?!
He planned an elaborate day of surprises which included flying my parents and a friend in from out-of-state, having a friend lead me on a day of activities that were meaningful/special to either me or both of us, and ending at our house. At the house, all our friends and family were gathered and Trevor was standing in a heart of candles with our 2 dogs with shirts on that said, “Will you marry my daddy?” Trevor had enlisted the help of friends and family to make foods that I love, so after the proposal was an engagement party with all our loved ones. It was great!
What were your wedding colors and why did you choose them?
Blue and yellow–because we both love blue, and yellow goes well with blue! Ha.
Where did you find your dress? Would you say that finding your dress was relatively easy or difficult?
Almond Tree Boutique. It was much easier than I thought–it was the first shop I went to and maybe the fifth dress I tried on.
Where did your ceremony and reception take place? Was there any special meaning behind the choice of the venue(s)?
The Paseo. I knew I wanted Arizona desert scenery since that’s what makes Phoenix special, and The Paseo was the PERFECT find and choice.
What kind of flowers did you have in your bouquet and at the ceremony/reception?
I made flowers from my mom’s wedding dress for my bouquet and the corsages. We had live succulents and cacti for décor at the reception.
What was the flavor of your wedding cake?
We didn’t have a cake–we hired the Hot Cookie Truck and it was amazing! Chocolate cookie with mint chocolate chip ice cream.
Did you provide favors to your guests? If so, what were they?
Yes, we had custom bottles of Jones Soda printed with ridiculous pictures of us with our 3 cats
What details from your wedding that made it unique to you?
I made all the decorations (flowers, centerpieces, ceremony décor). We included our love for animals in the invitations and other paper products (which all had bride & groom cats), including our dogs as the official bridesmaid and groomsmen, and instead of table numbers we used names/photos of past and current loved family pets. We wrote our own vows and the groom’s brother officiated. And of course we had the Hot Cookie Truck for dessert!
Other than marrying your husband, what was one of your favorite moments from your wedding day?
My dad walking me down the aisle. He is terminally ill and for several years leading up to the wedding I thought that opportunity would never happen.
Did you take a honeymoon? If so, where did you go?
Yes, we went to the Sandals Resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica!
What is one piece of wisdom you learned from your planning experince that you would like to share with future brides?
Don’t share a lot of details with people, as everyone has an opinion and many will likely not agree with what you want–in the end it’s YOUR day! Stick to what YOU want!Who were some of the other vendors that were a part of your dream team?
The Amburgeys photography (Katrina & Blake), Starz Entertainment (Jimmy Davenport), and the wonderful people at The Paseo!
Thank you so much Emmy and Trevor for sharing your big day with us! We loved getting to know Emmy during her trial and being able to see all of the details she told us about! We wish you two the very best of luck!
