Heidi and her husband Mike are a modern day love story.
The pair met online and decided to have a fun wedding willed with all sorts of sports themed elements this past March! Read more about their heartfelt day below!

How did you and your groom meet?
We met on eHarmony!

We are dying to know, how did he propose?!
Mike took me to Prescott at the beginning of a week-long trip. He had my ring wrapped up in a bag inside of a handmade shirt that was modeled after the football Jared commercial with a jersey with Heidi and the #1. The commercial means a lot being we love sports so much.

What were your wedding colors? Did you have an overall theme? What were your wedding colors? Did you have an overall theme?
Maroon (wine) and Gold (Canary). ASU colors :). The theme was sports. We had rally towels as our wedding favors. Pennants at each table. There was a ‘challenge flag thrown (as a joke) during the ceremony, guests picked up tickets at ‘will call’ and much more of course.

How large was your wedding party?
8 people including flower girl and ring bearer

Where did you find your dress? Would you say that finding your dress was a relatively easy or a difficult process?
David’s Bridal. It was soo easy to find and I loved it!!

Where did your ceremony and reception take place? Was there any special meaning behind the choice of venue(s)?Anthem Golf & Country Club. My now husband loves golf and I love great pictures. The venue met both of our needs! Mike even had a golf tournament on their private course the day before our wedding as part of the deal.

What kind of flowers did you have in your bouquet and the ceremony/ reception?
Hydrangeas and chocolate cosmos. My florist made it like a soccer ball and I absolutely loves it!! We had a lot of variety of flowers in the ceremony from mums to snapdragons to lilies.
What was the flavor of your wedding cake?
Strawberry marble and Blueberry yogurt. It was delicious!

Did you provide favors to your guests? If so, what were they?
Rally towels the said ‘Heidi and Michael’s official SCHMIDT towel’

What details from your wedding that made it unique to you?
We tried to make as many sports things as possible. We had a coin toss during the ceremony. 50/50 raffle to help raise money for honeymoon. I went to NAU and Mike went to ASU so we had those logos in the cake and other locations. Our wedding program was designed like a sports program from a game and ushers handed them out. Guests made their own pennants at the cocktail hour. The girls in the wedding wore Sperry’s and the Boys wore collegiate logo socks. Our dad’s even wore college themed ties. Mike hiked the garter on a football to the crowd and my bouquet looked like a soccer ball.

Other than marrying your husband, what was your favorite moment from your wedding day?
If I had to pick one…which is very hard! It would be when my Matron of Honor had my husband perform the song I’m On A Boat. Hard to explain why, but it was amazing!

Did you take a honeymoon? If so, where did you go?
We are planning to go to Moorea, Tahiti in May 2015 for 8 days and stay in an over the water bungalow!!

What is one piece of wisdom you learned from your planning experience that you would like to share with future brides?
If the venue has a package with all vendors included it is amazing! They usually have been to the venue and have worked together. They know how and where to take good photos, etc.

Who were some of the other vendors that were a part of your dream team?
SKM Entertainment
Still Life Studios
Bamboo Bakery
Anthem Golf and Country Club
Kays Flowers of Anthem
Babydoll Weddings

Thank you so much for sharing your amazing day with us Heidi & Matt! We are so happy for you two!
